Amanda Bynes and her ex-fiancé Paul Michael have decided to call off their engagement but plan to continue seeing one another. According to Entertainment Tonight, the “Hairspray” star came to the conclusion that she and Paul still had a lot of issues to work through before they can even consider the idea of tying the knot.

The 36-year-old, per the publication’s sources, realized their relationship was moving too fast, but “they love each other and are still committed to one another.” Amanda first announced her engagement back on Valentine’s Day 2020 as she flaunted her stunning emerald diamond ring on Instagram in view of her millions of followers.

“[Bynes and Michael] are still in a committed relationship and take their relationship seriously,” ET’s insider continued. “They wear rings now to show their loyalty to each other and as a symbol of learning and growing together, but the rings aren’t everything to them.”

“Amanda looks great and has gotten through many hard and significant experiences that have helped make her an incredible woman. She is sober, killing it and doing better than ever. Paul is in law school after working in healthcare for 10 years and doing well.”

Meanwhile, back in April, the Nickelodeon alum said she was looking forward to finishing her bachelor’s degree following the news that her conservatorship had been terminated. The court-ordered agreement was overturned at a Los Angeles courthouse in March, and by the look of things, the actress’ main focus is finishing her fashion studies.

“I am continuing with my bachelor’s degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, majoring in creative industry studies with a core in beauty marketing and product development,” she told E! News.

“I am traveling to New York in June to work on developing a fragrance, which will be ready to launch near the holidays.”

As fans will probably know, Amanda had been under a conservatorship since 2013, after appearing to have suffered from mental health and drug problems, as reported at the time. But Judge Roger L. Lund agreed that the California native still needed to be looked after by her conservators, who were her parents.

“She’s done everything the court has asked over a long period of time,” the judge said during the hearing. After learning about her new-found freedom, Amanda took to social media, thanking her fans for the endless support they had given her over the past few years while she fought for independency. Not only does Amanda plan to finish her bachelor’s degree, but she reportedly also wants to spend less time in the limelight, with no current plans to return to acting just yet.
