Alleged White Supremacist Arrested After Ankle Monitor Placed Him At Capitol Riot

Bryan Betancur, an alleged white supremacist from Maryland, has been arrested after his ankle monitor GPS placed him at the Capitol riot on January 6.

FBI officials say in addition to cellphone records and social media photos, Betancur, who’s allegedly a self-professed white supremacist, was tracked on his ankle monitor entering the restricted Capitol grounds on the day of the fatal riots. Per special agents’ sworn statements, Betancur has previously told law enforcement that he’s an active member of white supremacy groups and has previously considered homicidal acts.

Per WUSA9, Betancur was on probation for robbery convictions when granted permission to travel to Washington to distribute bibles. Instead of bible deliveries, Betancur showed up near the Trump rally outside the White House and was later tracked entering the Capitol grounds, staying for about three hours. Betancur was eventually taken into custody on Sunday (Jan. 17) on charges of entering a restricted building or grounds, unlawful activities on Capitol Grounds and disorderly conduct.
