As we previously reported, e weather presenter called Morgan out for his harsh comments towards Meghan Markle. Clearly, Morgan couldn’t take the heat anymore as he stormed out of Tuesday’s show. Beresford called his behavior “pathetic” and “absolutely diabolical.”

Beresford is now speaking out to clarify his feelings about Morgan’s departure from “Good Morning Britain,” saying in a statement Thursday via Twitter that it wasn’t what he wanted to happen.

“Over the last few years, Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky on-air relationship. We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning, and from our very public conversations on Twitter, we both knew how strongly our opinions differed on the treatment of Harry and Meghan pre and post the interview that has split the world,” Beresford wrote. “I hoped we could reach a place of understanding,” Beresford said Thursday.

Before concluding he added,

“It’s sad that we weren’t able to get there, but challenging his opinion was not an outrage. On this occasion, we have to agree to disagree. “I didn’t want him to quit,” the weatherman said, “but I did want him to listen.”

Morgan on the other hand seems to be at peace with his decision. He recently spoke out and said “freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on.”
