Criminal charges against Alec Baldwin in the “Rust” shooting case were dropped Thursday and folks are having mixed feelings about the decision.

As we previously reported, the actor faced two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The film’s weapons handler, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, will have her charges dismissed as well.

After the news broke today, Candace Owens took to her Twitter to express her frustration. “Alec Baldwin having all charges dropped against him is positively criminal. He quite literally shot and killed someone on the set of his own movie and he will never have to face charges. Unbelievable privilege that only a wealthy, connected democrat could experience.”  She tweeted.

After her comments Twitter users explained there mixed opinions on the topic with one user responding Owens saying, Candace, “I see you have delved in the world of entertainment a lot lately and may not be familiar with how things go. Each person has their own individual roles to play on set. The prop masters are the ones in charge of these things, not the actors. This has nothing at all to do with his money or political affiliations.”

Another user clapped back at Owens’ comments disagreeing with her tweet saying, “I disagree 100%. Facts are true he pulled the trigger. However, 100% it was an accident. In civil court he may be charged with negligence. Fine. To charge him with a crime and potential jail time would be the real injustice.”

Baldwin’s lawyers, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, released a statement saying they are pleased with the decision. “We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”
