Alaska Airlines Bans State Lawmaker Over Her ‘Continued Refusal To Comply’ With Mask Mandate
Alaska state lawmaker Lora Reinbold, who’s repeatedly called flight attendants “mask bullies,” has now been banned by Alaska Airlines over her “continued refusal to comply” with their mask mandate. The airlines released a statement saying, “This suspension is effective immediately pending further review. Federal law requires all guests to wear a mask over their nose and mouth at all times during travel, including throughout the flight, during boarding and deplaning, and while traveling through an airport.”
While the ban, which is for 30 days, may seem like no big deal, it turns out the company was being petty boots teaching Sen. Reinbold a lesson for messing with their employees as they made her travel plans much more difficult — seeing as the airlines is the only operating company to offer flights between her home north of Anchorage and the state capital in Juneau.

Subsequently, on Sunday (Apr. 25), Sen. Reinbold had to drive more than 14 hours; with portions of her trip including her driving through parts of Canada and catching a ferry to reach Juneau by Monday — where she’s planned to sit in on a bill she opposes that extends Gov Mike Dunleavy‘s emergency powers during the coronavirus pandemic. Responding to the airlines’ actions, she wrote on Facebook, “I am keenly aware of the monopoly in air transport to Juneau that needs reviewed! … Nothing could get in the way to be in the Capitol to fight to executive branch infringement on the legislature & defending your rights by trying to stop HB76 which is on the Senate floor tomorrow!”
