In a now-deleted TikTok video, Alabama Baker said she was tired of people saying she knew nothing about rap music or wasn’t raised around the genre. Following the response, the 17-year-old socialite shared images where she met hip-hop artists like Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne. Barker also shared a photo of when she met Rihanna on the set of her music video for one of her hit songs.
“I went to Rihanna’s music video when she shot the ‘Umbrella’ song, I believe — or one of her songs. So, another song I loved,” Barker explained. According to PEOPLE, Barker also shared a poster for the Blink-182 and Lil Wayne tour in 2019. There were more photos which included Pharell Williams and ASAP Ferg.

“This is us at dinner with Asap Ferg and my dad. I was also a huge fan of his music, and I knew every lyric to half of his songs.”
She also addressed her style and beauty inspirations, as there was criticism about how she wore long nails. Additionally, Barker clarified that she has been around the music industry since childhood.
“Since I could walk, I was in the music industry. I was watching my dad perform in punk bands, rock bands, in rap concerts, everything. So, for the people that say, ‘Oh, she doesn’t know anything about rap music. She didn’t grow up around rap music. Why is she doing this? Why is she doing that?’ I’ve been influenced by rap my entire upbringing and punk rock. I know I am privileged, and I’m beyond grateful for that and blessed. It’s not OK for people to make fun of or disrespect any culture at all. So, if me being a rapper bugs you, then you can just keep moving and stop commenting.”
Twitter users responded to the deleted-TikTok and accused her of making excuses to create rap music and prove her worth.
