Someone is going to be “locked up” because Akon’s Range Rover was stolen on Monday night in Atlanta while he was pumping gas! It ain’t safe, It ain’t safe!
According to ET Online, a police officer responded to a call at the gas station at 11:59 p.m. on Monday after a vehicle was reported stolen.
Akon said he left his white Range Rover running while he pumped gas from the other side. He said he noticed that his car begin to pull off as his tank filled up. His phone was left inside the car, which luckily helped with the vehicle’s recovery.
“It only takes a second for someone to jump in your vehicle and take off,” the Atlanta Police Department’s Capt. Graham said.
Officials used Akon’s “Find My iPhone” app, which helped police track his car down to Forest Park, Georgia.
Councilwoman Natalyn Archibong said cameras at gas pumps have not stopped criminals.
“It is a common occurrence. It is not an anomaly. It is a significant enough crime and a consistent enough crime that it warrants this intervention,” Archibong said.
