Ahmaud Arbery’s Mom Files $1M Civil Suit Alleging Son’s Killers Were Working With Police

On the one year anniversary of Ahmaud Arbery’s death, his mother has filed a federal lawsuit, alleging the men responsible for her son’s murder were working with local police.

According to TMZ, Wanda Cooper is suing Greg and Travis McMichael and William Bryan for Ahmaud’s death, in addition to numerous Glynn County police officials and the county. Cooper believes that they all violated Ahmaud’s civil rights.

The lawsuit states that following reports of a trespasser at a construction site, the Glynn County law enforcement authorized the McMichaels, To take action. One of the revolvers involved in the death was also police issued.

Glynn County Manager Alan Ours also previously stated that the Glynn County Police Department had a culture of “cronyism, outdated policies, lack of appropriate training, and loss of State certification, with “an ongoing culture of cover-up, failure to supervise, abuse of power, and lack of accountability.”

There were multiple incidents at the hands of the D.A’s office and police force to sweep the incident under the rug. If it wasn’t for the viral video of Ahmaud’s murder, the public would have been unaware.

Cooper is suing in excess of $1 million plus damages.
