Adele Reveals She Collapsed Backstage Due To Sciatica Flare-Up: ‘I’m Going To Sit Down And Rest’

Adele recently revealed that she collapsed backstage while holding a show at her Las Vegas residency. The singer says she suffered a flare-up from her spinal condition.

During her concert she opened up to her fans and told them she fell and was unable to move because of a sciatica attack. “They picked my whole body up off the floor,” Adele explained to the crowd, according to The Sun. “I am going to sit down and rest my sciatica.”

Sciatica is a term used to describe pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is the longest and thickest nerve in the body, running from the lower back through the hips and buttocks, and down each leg. The pain associated with sciatica typically originates in the lower back and travels down the back of the leg, sometimes extending all the way to the foot.

The most common cause of sciatica is a herniated or slipped disc in the lumbar spine. When a disc becomes herniated, its inner gel-like material can press against the sciatic nerve, causing irritation, inflammation, and pain. Other potential causes of sciatica include spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis (vertebral slippage), and rarely, tumors or infections affecting the nerve.

The pain caused by sciatica can vary in intensity, from a mild ache to sharp, shooting pains. It may be accompanied by other symptoms such as tingling, numbness, or weakness in the leg or foot. The pain is typically felt on one side of the body.
