An Oklahoma animal shelter shared heartbreaking footage of an abandoned dog who waited nine hours for his owner until he was rescued by the organization.
According to the Daily Mail, the Oklahoma Animal Alliance shared pictures of the dog, renamed Rocket, left on a dead-end trail of 66th Street North and Mingo outside of Tulsa. The trail’s surveillance camera showed Rocket waiting for nine hours for his owner to return before the animal shelter rescued him.

‘Doing this to living, feeling being should never be the answer. This beautiful dog was taken to a rural area and abandoned by someone he likely trusted. The dog waited 9 hours for his person to return. His person didn’t.’

On Tuesday, the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that they have identified Rocket’s former owner and issued him a citation after help from concerned citizens:

‘Thanks to tips from the community and our partners at Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, today our deputies were able to identify and cite the individual who was caught on camera, abandoning his dog near 66th Street North and Mingo.’
‘Trail cameras caught the act in progress, and rescuers were able to respond. If cameras weren’t rolling, who knows what fate would have befallen Rocket.’
