In the constantly evolving music industry, Guin Records stands as a testament to the power of diversity and creativity. Co-founded by Misha Kordestani, Guin Records has become a dynamic force, providing a platform for emerging talent to make their mark on the global stage.

Misha’s journey has been marked by her determination to challenge industry norms. Influenced by her mother’s love for classic R&B and soul music, Misha sought to create a label that champions today’s storytellers. Guin Records, co-founded with her brother Milan, draws inspiration from the resilience of penguins, symbolizing a nurturing environment for artists.

Guin Records’ success is deeply rooted in its diverse array of artists. From Curtis Waters to Jean Deaux, thespans genres from electric pop to Alternative R&B. The label’s philosophy prioritizes artists’ well-being and autonomy, offering fair royalty splits and ownership of masters. Guin Records has also implemented a democratized distribution model, pairing artists with distributors that best fit their needs and ensuring consistent playlist support.

Beyond her work at Guin Records, Misha is dedicated to philanthropy. As the Executive Director of the Unique Zan Foundation, she supports education and health initiatives in the Middle East and Africa. The foundation recently helped build the Malezi School in Nairobi, Kenya, a pioneering project powered by solar and wind energy.

One of the most significant challenges for indie artists is creating consistent social media content. Recognizing this, Guin Records provides videographers and editing assistance to help artists develop engaging short-form content. Misha believes that supporting artists in content creation is essential for their success.

Early on, it was challenging for Guin Records to sign larger artists without a proven track record. Over time, however, the label has managed to attract more established artists, which has helped significantly. These artists often have a clear vision, making it easier for the label to support and amplify their work. Now, Misha can be more selective, focusing on artists who align with the label’s values and vision.

Under Misha’s leadership, Guin Records is breaking down barriers and challenging the status quo. “We’re creating a space where artists can truly be themselves and make a meaningful impact through their music,” says Misha. Her dual roles in philanthropy and music highlight her commitment to shaping a better future for generations to come.
