A British Council Discusses Stripping Prince Harry and Megan Markle Of Their Royal Titles
So much has gone on with the royal family following the marriage of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, but this newest discussion is questionable!
Megan Markle has been receiving a lot of backlash over the past year or so in regards to her not only being American but how she carries herself.
Recently, sources say that a council in Brighton has been discussing the idea stripping not only Markle but Prince Harry of their royal titles of ‘Duke of Sussex’ and ‘Duchess of Sussex.’
The petition which was posted on the Brighton and Hove City Council website by Campaigner Charles Ross reads as followed;
“We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to reject the usage of the titles ‘Duke of Sussex’ and ‘Duchess of Sussex’; by the individuals Henry (“Harry”) Windsor and Rachel Meghan Markle as morally wrong and disrespectful to the county of East Sussex. As residents of Brighton and Hove, we call on Brighton and Hove Council to not refer to these individuals by such titles which we believe to be entirely non democratic and symbolic of the oppression of the general public by the wealthy elite. Neither will Brighton Council invite or entertain these individuals nor afford them any hospitality or courtesies above and beyond that of an ordinary member of the public.”
If that didn’t make sense, let us break it down for you!
The Brighton & Hove Council believes that the rich are not supportive of the oppressed residents of the Sussex community. Despite being the Duke and Dutchess o the county, they say that Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s attendance will not be welcomed with pop and circumstance.
However, there is only one problem that the Brighton & Hove Council hasn’t faced!
The Queen gifted Megan and Harry the royal title, so only the queen can take it away.
Thomas Mace-Archer-Mills, founder of the British Monarchists Society shared his thoughts on the petition saying;
“Such a petition shows utter disdain and contempt for The Crown, not to mention copious amounts of disrespect to, and for, the Royal family which undertakes thousands of engagements per year on behalf of the nation, in right of Her Majesty as The Crown.”
As of now, the royals have not commented on the petition that has over 3000 signatures, but it’s likely that it will get nowhere as the county of Sussex and the Brighton & Hove Council don’t have the power to remove their titles.
