On Saturday (October 24), Obama appeared on stage at a midterm election rally for Democrats in Ohio. During Obama’s speech, he took a jab at Trump’s White House renovations. He began:

“So, when you go through the tally of promises, things have not worked out the way we might have expected. Although, I must say, I did expect it. And let’s be honest, does anybody really think this guy in the White House right now is spending all that time thinking about these issues?”

The crowd shouted back, “No!.” Obama continued, “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he seems very focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV. The guy’s building a ballroom that’s bigger than the White House. [He’s] paved over the Rose Garden, put a helicopter pad on the South Lawn.”

Obama continued to take a jab at Trump’s love of gold. He said:

“And there’s gold everywhere. What’s up with the gold? Everything. ‘More gold.’ He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. Just gold everywhere.”

Obama’s witty jabs resulted in a huge reaction from the rally attendees. They began laughing, cheering, and roaring with applause. Obama slipped in one more shot and said, “So, he’s clearly not focused on lowering prices for you.”
