In a new interview, Young Thug addresses his leaked interrogation audio and snitching claims — for which he doubles down against being a rat in the PeeWee Roscoe and Lil Wayne tour bus shooting case.
Young Thug Denies Snitching On PeeWee Roscoe After Leaked Interrogation Audio From 2015 Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting
Weeks ago, audio surfaced from Young Thug’s interrogation in the 2015 shooting of Lil Wayne’s tour bus. On the tape, Thug name-dropped his childhood friend and YSL associate PeeWee Roscoe — who was eventually convicted as the gunman.
The leak caused social media to label Thug a rat and a snitch. However, Young Thug vehemently denied being a snitch and betraying PeeWee Roscoe as social media claimed he did the same to Gunna. Thug took to X and tweeted, “They didn’t play my interrogation video in court ’cause I helped my brada. #RatWhere?” He later added, “Stop trying to make me one of those boys. Death before dishonor this way, kids.”
Elsewhere, Roscoe reportedly defended Thug. He said, “He did what a real street n***a [was supposed to do].” Roscoe feels the rapper “kept it silent” and “kept it overly real.”
Young Thug Insists He’s Not A Rat Or Snitch After Leaked Interrogation Audio In PeeWee Roscoe-Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting
However, in his new interview with Big Bank on his ‘Perspektives with Bank’ podcast, Young Thug is again standing firm and claiming innocent of all rat allegations. During his sit-down, Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, explained the difference between his interrogation audio and that of YSL Yak, born Deamonte Kendrick and also known as Yak Gotti. Yak faces snitching claims for name-dropping, Lil Duke, born Arnold Martinez.
“The difference between me and Yak’s situation is, Yak was in the interrogation room telling that Duke did the crime. No bullsh*t. No funny sh*t. Ain’t even no harsh feelings. I ain’t mad at nobody or none of that. He told that Duke was locked up for these crimes. He told the police what Duke did. Like, you told on Duke.
That’s the difference between his and mine. I didn’t tell on Roscoe. I tried to free Roscoe. I’m saying Roscoe didn’t shoot at the bus. We be serving these n***as when they come to Atlanta. He ain’t shoot at this bus. They ain’t beefing. That’s what I’m telling the police. Any street n***a in the world going to understand that. Any street n***a in the world not going to say, ‘Oh, I ratted it. Oh, I did what wrong.’
The police mentioned the names. I just gave them my stories. The police mentioned their names. I ain’t bring no n***a name up in the interrogation. The police mentioned these n***as names. I brung Guwop [Gucci Mane]’s name up, but I brought it up to talk about my dealings with Guwop. Like, I’m signed to Gucci. I’m not signed to Bird [Birdman]. That’s why Guwop’s name came up. I ain’t brining no n***a name up. I’m naming superstars. The police know every one of these n***as. Y’all like I’m bringing up n***as name to put them on the police’s radar…. Everything I did in the interview was on purpose.”
When asked why he offered investigators his phone number following questioning, the rapper claims he was just flirting. He said:
“If you look at the whole video — and I’mma put the whole interview and I’ma put the video out so you can see the actual video too — I told the lady to take my number on some flirtation sh*t. Like, we just flirted. When we was first coming in the room, I was flirting with her. All this sh*t is on video. When we come in the room, I’m flirting with her. When we sitting down talking, she sitting at the table. I’m talking to her. I’m flirting with this b*tch. Not—not mean to call her no b*tch. I’m flirting with this lady.
At the end of the video, when everybody getting up and leaving out the room, I’m still talking to her ’cause she getting up late. She was still getting her sh*t together and getting up like, ‘Well, alright. Good talking to you…’ I’m like, ‘Man, you don’t know anything. Get my number, baby, I make promises.’ You know, I’m just flirting with the lady. Obviously, the world is going to look at it how they look at it.”
