The prayers, tweets, and petitions worked — KFC is finally bringing back their legendary Potato Wedges and Hot & Spicy Wings nationwide starting August 18. After being discontinued in 2020, KFC’s Potato Wedges had fans in their feelings, sparking countless social media pleas for their return. The chain tested a surprise comeback earlier this year in Tampa, Florida, and locals cleared them out fast. Now, they’re making a full return across the country.
Also coming back? Hot & Spicy Wings, a fan-favorite that’s been missing from menus for nearly two years. They’re marinated, double hand-breaded in KFC’s Extra Crispy™ coating, and deliver just enough kick to keep you coming back for more.
Additionally, prices will vary by restaurant, so check out your local KFC for further details!
Nostalgia Meets New Combos
The Potato Wedges — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside — first hit KFC menus in the mid-90s and quickly earned cult status in the late 90s and early 2000s. But their removal in 2020 sparked one of the brand’s most debated food decisions.

Now, they’re back to pair perfectly with KFC’s fiery wings in a new 6-piece Wings & Wedges Combo, complete with a medium drink. Customers can also swap wedges for any side or order them solo.
Don’t worry, fry lovers — KFC’s Secret Recipe Fries aren’t going anywhere. This comeback is about adding more options, not replacing them.
Kentucky Fried Comeback
Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S., says the return is about more than nostalgia:
“Wedge-lovers, we heard you — and we agree it’s been five long years without wedges. But the wait is over. This isn’t just a nostalgic nod. It’s an example of how we’re turning feedback into action as we chart our Kentucky Fried Comeback.”
