According to The Wall Street Journal, Jeff Bezos and Amazon are following in Mark Zuckerberg and Meta’s footsteps as they both donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump‘s inaugural fund. It’s also reported that Zuckerberg “regrets” his past moves to censor information about Trump on behalf of President Joe Biden‘s Administration.
Late Wednesday evening (December 11), the WSJ reported that Meta donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund, marking the latest step that CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made to reinforce his frayed relationship with the President-elect and foster a positive rapport with Donald J. Trump.
Meta is said to have confirmed that the $1 million donation to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund is Mark Zuckerberg’s first step in moving past their previous issues. As a refresher, Trump threatened to punish Zuckerberg if he attempted to influence social users to vote against him and for Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a letter to Congress in August, Mark Zuckerberg publicly expressed his “regrets” for censoring Donald Trump for the Joe Biden Administration. He claimed that in 2021, Biden’s people “pressured” Meta into censoring more COVID-19 content than he felt comfortable with. Zuckerberg also said that he would not make the same contributions he made during the 2020 election in order to support electoral efforts, claiming the gifts made him appear not “neutral.”
Meta’s $1 million donation to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund also arrived weeks after Mark Zuckerberg met with the incoming president at Mar-a-Lago. During the meeting last month, the two men reportedly broke bread with each other and congratulated each other on their recent successes. At the time, a spokesperson for Meta said, “[Zuckerberg was] grateful for the invitation to join President Trump for dinner.”
Following in Mark Zuckerberg and Meta’s footsteps, it was also reported that Jeff Bezos and his company Amazon also donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund. Like Zuckerberg, Trump has accused Bezos of bias against him and his administration, and more. And like Zuckerberg trying to smooth things over with Trump, Bezos has done the same.
On Thursday (December 12), Trump told CNBC’s Jim Cramer, “Mark Zuckerberg’s been over to see me, and I can tell you, Elon [Musk] is another, and Jeff Bezos is coming up next week, and I want to get ideas from them.” It’s reported that over the years, Jeff Bezos and Donald Trump have frequently feuded with one another, and during his first campaign and presidential term, Trump would take shots at Amazon, once claiming they were doing “great damage to tax paying retailers.”
Since then, Jeff Bezos has changed his tune and during The New York Times’ DealBook Summit last week, he said he’s “actually very optimistic” about a second Donald Trump term. He also said that Trump has likely “grown in the last eight years,” and that he was encouraged by the President-elect’s focus on deregulation. Bezos said, “He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation. If I can help do that, I’m going to help him.”
