Well now the trial is back in session after judge Whitaker took control of the yucases after a series of events that led to the original judge, Judge Ural Glanville, recusing himself from overseeing the proceedings.

The chain of events began with the disclosure of a meeting involving Glanville, prosecutors, and a witness named Lil Woody, which excluded the defense lawyers, known as an ex parte meeting. The defense attorneys were outraged by this meeting, arguing that it was so improper that it necessitated Glanville’s removal from the case. This argument proved successful, leading to Glanville being taken off the case.

In court last week, several matters were addressed. A motion to reconsider bond for Young Thug was denied, along with two motions for mistrial, while a third is still pending and could be decided this week. A motion to disqualify the lead prosecutors in Fulton County on the case was also rejected, as was a request for a gag order from the State that aimed to prevent defense attorneys from speaking to the media about the case. However, one order that was granted was a request by Young Thug’s lawyers to strike, or essentially erase, from the record and jury consideration everything that has occurred since June 12. This was based on Georgia law stating that if a Motion to Recuse a Trial Judge is filed and denied, but it is later determined that the judge should have been disqualified, all proceedings after the filing of the motion are deemed invalid and have no effect.
