Omarosa Manigault Newman has something to say about Donald trump’s recent comments during the first presidential debate.
The former member of Donald Trump’s White House staff, strongly criticized the former president for his recent comments about “Black jobs.” Trump had made the statement in relation to the issue of immigration, suggesting that the influx of people coming through the border was taking away job opportunities from Black individuals.
He said, “They’re taking Black jobs now and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people,” former President Donald Trump said in the debate Thursday. “They’re taking Black jobs, and they’re taking Hispanic jobs, and you haven’t seen it yet, but you’re going to see something that’s going to be the worst in our history.”
In response to Trump’s remarks, Newman, who spoke with TMZ, expressed her confusion about the concept of a “Black job” and questioned where Trump derived such a notion. She even drew a comparison to the era of slavery, stating that the only true “Black job” in the country’s history was during that time. She went on to note that she finds Trump’s comments to be “insane” and stressed that the Black and Hispanic communities are diverse and not monolithic.
“I think that people will come to terms with the fact that Trump may not be equipped to deal with the racial issues that are going on in the country,” she afded. “In fact, he’s kind of fed into a lot of them.”
Newman first gained public recognition as a contestant on the reality TV show “The Apprentice” and later appeared on its celebrity spin-off. She then became well-known as one of the most prominent Black members of Trump’s administration, working on initiatives related to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and addressing racial disparities within the military justice system.
Despite Trump’s recent backlash he’s still confident he could win the 2024 presidential race.
