Shannon Sharpe and Shaquille O’Neal’s recent social media feud had sports fans intrigued earlier this month, but now it seems like Shannon Sharpe is ready to put the beef behind him and move on.

While on the Webby Awards red carpet on Monday, Sharpe took the time to address social media back and forth. As we previously reported, the dispute between Sharpe and O’Neal regarding the 2024 NBA MVP selection resulted in a heated exchange of words, which led to O’Neal releasing an unexpected diss track on May 10th. During the red carpet event for the Webby Awards honoring outstanding online content on May 13, Sharpe stated to PEOPLE that he has no ill will towards the NBA legend and is prepared to put the disagreement behind him.

The news outlet asked Sharpe if he had anything else he would like to O’Neal, Sharpe, 55, responded by simple saying no before adding “I mean, I don’t have no problem with Shaq,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer told PEOPLE. “He said what he said, I’m ready to move on.”

When things first began to get critical between the two, 52-year-old Shaquille O’Neal took to his Instagram to write a lengthy message to the ‘Club Shay Shay’ host: ‘You took me sticking up [for Gilgeous-Alexander as] jealousy of joker. shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. so here’s some click bait for you. if you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession, then you can’t speak on Me.’

‘Don’t forget i know what you did to get were you at. me jealous, sounds like you jealous. i kno you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. we don’t believe you. you need more people and in case you forgot. 4 rings three finals Mvp top 50 and top 75. google me. and to b quite frank all this new success you got, you still under me.

Sharpe responded to the Instagram post on his podcast, saying: ‘I have never professed that I was as great as Shaq. But what I will say, I got what I got because I worked my a** off.’

Now Shaq has been the one to say it – that he didn’t work as hard, he didn’t train as hard, he didn’t eat as well as he should have. Shaq is the one that anytime someone wins an MVP, he talks about how he should have been the MVP over Steve Nash.

‘Now, you guys have seen me speak glowingly. I’ve said Travis Kelce is a better tight end than I ever was, so was [Rob Gronkowski], so was Antonio Gates. I’m cool, I got no problem.

‘You know why I got no problem with giving people credit? Because I got everything out of my God-given ability.’
