Amy Robach opened up about her growing relationship with T.J. Holmes, emphasizing their journey for a lifelong partnership over marital ties. On their podcast, the couple discussed their views on marriage and commitment, plus whether they would marry each other.

During an episode, Robach referenced Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s relationship, who have famously excluded marriage since 1983, as an inspiration. “Every day they wake up and choose to be together without a legal binding document. It’s not perfect, but it’s admirable,” she explained. Although Holmes said they haven’t ruled out marriage but are moving on to the next serious step in their relationship: moving in together.
Robach noted that marriage makes a relationship feel more “official” but based on personal experience, that is not always a factor: “There’s something about saying ‘that’s my husband, and I’m his wife’ that feels more official and real, even though life has shown us that it’s not always the case.” Both were previously married before their affair went public in late November 2022 and filed for divorce from their former spouses in December 2022. According to Page Six, their ex spouses, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, reportedly found solace in each other and started dating over shared experiences in December 2023.

Robach and Holmes say they interact and see each other daily due to their work on the podcast, so moving in together wouldn’t be a big step for them: “We’re so used to constantly being around each other that moving in together wouldn’t change much,”
Although the couple still faces scrutiny for their publicized affair, they are working together to challenge traditional perpections of partnership and commitment.
