Cori Broadus, the daughter of rap icon Snoop Dogg, has shared a heartbreaking health update this Thursday morning. Cori revealed that she suffered a stroke and expressed her emotional turmoil at such a young age.
Cori shared the devastating news of her stroke on her Instagram Story, leaving her followers deeply concerned. At just 24 years old, she expressed her disbelief and questioned why she had to endure such hardships at such a young age. “I had a severe stroke this am. I started breaking down crying when they told me,” she revealed. “Like I’m only 24 what did I do in my past to deserve all of this.”
The emotional impact of this setback is evident as Cori openly shared her vulnerability with her supporters; something she’s been doing ever since she publicly shared her battle with lupus.
More On Cori Broadus’ Health:
While exclusively speaking with PEOPLE in September, Cori revealed that things were going much better for her since she went “all natural” to help her symptoms.
Cori, who was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 6, told the outlet: “I’ve been good, better than I’ve ever been,” she said at the time. She went on to explain that she took a more holistic approach to her health after a difficult journey that included a 2021 suicide attempt.
“I stopped taking all of my medication like five months ago,” Cori revealed. “I’m just doing everything natural, all types of herbs, sea moss, teas. “I started working out, drinking lots of water,” she added. “So now I think my body’s like, okay, this is the new program and she’s getting used to it.” In addition to her natural remedies, Cori said she also has a fitness routine.
Despite seeing progress at times, Cori admitted, “It’s continuously a learning process because there’s so much more I could be doing,” she explained to the outlet at the time.
Her battle also hasn’t been an easy one for her parents. However, they credit her for saving their marriage.
The rapper filed for divorce from Shante in 2004 but the couple got back together months later. Snopp withdrew the legal petition and they renewed their vows in 2008. In an old interview with PEOPLE, the pair told the magazine that the turning point was when their daughter Cori found out she had the autoimmune disease.
“Without [Snoop], I don’t know what I’d have done. It’s amazing how this all turned out. We were gonna get a divorce. But we wouldn’t have gotten through [the lupus diagnosis] that way.”
Snoop added: “That’s what it boiled down to. Cori’s lupus showed us we need to be together forever.”
