An active shooter is at large after he opened fire at a bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine. Police said 50 to 60 people were injured and 22 killed.

Maine State Police stated that the male suspect is believed to be in Lewiston and told residents to shelter in place, as TMZ reported. The department shared two images of the suspect on Facebook and advised residents to stay off the streets as law enforcement attempts to resolve the situation. ” Law enforcement in Androscoggin County are investigating two active shooter events. We are encouraging all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate. The suspect is still at large,” the post reads.
There are also reports of shots fired at a Walmart and a local bar. Police are also looking for a car belonging to the male suspect.

Governor Janet Mills released a statement on X and told residents to follow the directions of State and local police.
“I am aware of and have been briefed on the active shooter situation in Lewiston. I urge all people in the area to follow the direction of State and local enforcement. I will to continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with public safety officials.”
