UPDATE: Naked Woman Who Shot At Cars On The Freeway Is Facing 22 Years In Prison

Update: The naked woman who was seen on footage shooting at passing cars on a Bay Area freeway pleaded not guilty to several felony charges on at her arraignment on Tuesday. 

Sequoia Dunkinsell, 32, was charged with four counts of brandishing a firearm, three counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count each of shooting at an occupied vehicle, making criminal threats, negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and reckless driving, the San Francisco district attorney announced. he faces more than 22 years in state prison, according to the district attorney, and is due back in court on Aug. 11.

“I am grateful that there was no loss of life in connection to this incident and to the California Highway Patrol for successfully de-escalating, disarming and apprehending Ms. Dunkinsell,” District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said in a statement. “The incident on the freeway was terrifying and endangered the lives of countless commuters. We will do everything in our power to ensure that there is appropriate accountability.”

As we previously reported, CHP officials said they received a call late in the afternoon regarding an armed and reckless driver heading east on the freeway. Before officers got to the scene they were told the woman first stopped her car and hopped out with a knife then started yelling at cars that were driving by and then jumped back in her car and continued driving, according to officers. As she passed a toll plaza, she again stopped in the middle of traffic and exited her car completely nude.

In the video, you can see the woman firing from the shoulder of the freeway with a pistol and casually walking across traffic. She continued firing until she ran out of ammunition. Officers said there were no reports of injuries; they did not provide information on possible damage to any vehicles.

Officers arrested the woman without incident after she dropped the gun. The unidentified woman was taken to a local hospital for a medical and psychiatric evaluation. The incident forced the closure of parts of the freeway for nearly an hour and a half until all lanes were reopened.
