Travis Scott and his team are being dragged by the lawyer representing 9-year-old Astroworld victim, Ezra Blount. The lawyer claims Scott and his team are being “stunningly tone-deaf” amid the release of the rapper’s ‘UTOPIA‘ album.

As we’ve previously reported, Scott has been caught up in headlines regarding his concert at the Egyptian Pyramids of Giza. Following the back and forth between Scott’s team and officials in Egypt releasing conflicting statements about whether or not the concert was canceled, it was later officially confirmed by Live Nation that the ‘UTOPIA‘ show, originally scheduled for July 28, was canceled.
While Scott’s team argued that the concert was still happening, officials in Egypt stood firm on their claims that Scott was booted from the schedule over safety concerns and ‘peculiar rituals.’
Live Nation said, “Unfortunately, despite highest efforts, complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert. We understand that this news is disappointing and not the outcome any of us desired. Refunds will be issues to all ticket holders at their point of purchase. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may have used and appreciate your understanding.”

Since the Egypt concert cancelation, Scott made headlines again last week as Houston Police Department officials issued a final report on his November 2021 ‘Astroworld‘ festival, where 10 people died, including a 9-year-old boy.
In the 1,266-page report, police included interviews with hundreds of concert attendees, many of whom suffered injuries and were hospitalized. Of those Astroworld victims interviewed was a security guard named Marty, who claimed Travis’ team was told to end the concert when emergencies began surfacing; but Marty says Scott and his team refused to shut the show down because Drake had more songs to perform.
Responding to the report, Scott acknowledged he was told to stop the show, but wasn’t aware that there were medical emergencies occurring.
Additionally, Scott’s attorney Kent Schaffer then turned the attention on Houston PD, claiming they intentionally tried to cripple the sales and rollout of Scott’s new album ‘UTOPIA,’ by releasing their report on the same day as the project’s debut; he alleges it’s no “coincidence.”
A rep for Scott told TMZ, “The timing of the Houston Police Department report’s release, coinciding with the launch of Travis Scott’s highly anticipated album, is anything but coincidental. Travis Scott and his team were, as anticipated, fully cleared of any wrongdoing associated with the Astroworld tragedy by a grand jury based on the very report released today. It is outrageous that HPD has chosen to resort to tactics that attempt to discredit Travis and his team, casting doubt on how the unfortunate events at Astroworld actually transpired while deflecting blame from their own critical failures.”
The rep added, “Travis’s commitment to his audience’s safety and well-being is well-documented. As reported countless times, he actively stopped the show three separate times. Contrary to the HPD report’s inaccuracies, the concert did end at the exact time communicated to Travis. Meanwhile, Houston police officers present at the event did not intervene during the unfolding situation. They were observed throughout the show standing by idly, buying merch and even filming the concert in its entirety. We encourage the Houston PD to make peace with the fact that Travis Scott and his team were found innocent of any wrongdoing and to focus on what really matters – making sure tragedies like Astroworld never occur again under their watch.”

In response to Scott and his team, Bob Hilliard, the lawyer for the family of 9-year-old Astroworld victim Ezra Blount, called them all “stunningly tone-deaf” amid the release of ‘UTOPIA.’ In full, Hilliard told TMZ, “For an artist making his living with music, these are stunningly tone-deaf comments about this preventable tragedy that took so many lives and injured so many.”
Hilliard continued to blast the “tone-deaf” team and said, “Of course they would only focus on how the report’s release date hurts their album sales instead of the facts contained inside of the report.”
