Actor John Boyega is opening up about his personal life and dating and admits that he isn’t that “fixated” on having a relationship as of lately. He explains, “I haven’t met anyone that really ignites me.”
While speaking with Esquire in a new interview, the 31-year-old ‘Star Wars‘ actor began by revealing how he doesn’t quite understand his fans’ obsession with him.
He said, “Most of my life is mysterious. Like, people do not know about me and how I roll, who I’m with, what I’m doing. I get curious about people ’cause of the work they do. Your private life, I’m not trying to get into that too tough unless it’s some criminal crap, like, Oh, I didn’t know that person would do that. Who you’re dating and all that? I don’t have no interest. Also, I go, You don’t really care, though, innit? My mom and dad care about that.”
In his interview, Boyega — who hasn’t been in a relationship in four years, and whose last relationship only lasted for a few months — spoke more on his dating history and whether or not he has dated a celebrity before.
He said, “I’ve never dated a celebrity. Not for any particular reason. I just don’t be going to the parties.” He then admitted that he’s not really a relationship guy anyway. He added, “I want a relationship, but I don’t fixate on it. I’m not opposed to it. I just haven’t met anyone that really ignites that in me.”
Boyega also talked about his love language and what he considers his to be. For those unaware, there are five different types of love languages. These include: 1) acts of service; 2) quality time; 3) words of affirmation; 4) physical touch; and 5) receiving gifts.
Initially, Boyega can’t choose one and blurted out, “All of them.” Then he updated, “I’ve never understood there being a specific one. I mean, who likes touch without getting a gift once in a while? Who likes words of affirmation from someone that doesn’t actually touch? I’m willing to take as much as I can give. But, you know, I’m a softy. I’m chill. I’m spontaneous. And at the same time, I’m curious about people, so I create a space for honesty.”
