Quantavious ‘Unfoonk’ Grier, the brother of Atlanta rapper Young Thug, has been sentenced to nine years and six months in prison after violating the terms of his probation, listed in his YSL RICO plea deal.
Quantavious ‘Unfoonk’ Grier, Brother Of Young Thug, Sentenced To More Than 9 Years After Violating YSL RICO Plea Deal
According to WSB-TV, the sentencing of 34-year-old Quantavious Grier, who raps under the name Unfoonk, arrives after he was arrested on May 4, on charges of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon, persons associated with a criminal street gang to participate in illegal activity and some minor traffic offenses.
Grier’s arrest in May was in violation of the terms of his probation, to which he agreed to when he took a plea deal and pleaded guilty in the YSL (Young Slime Life) RICO case in December 2022.
As part of his deal, he entered a guilty plea to one count of violating the RICO Act, and one count of theft by receiving stolen property. He also agreed to a 12-year prison sentence, with two years commuted to time served, plus 10 years on probation.
In his deal, Grier was also ordered to: 1) not have any contact with his brother Young Thug (nor any of the other YSL defendants, until the case is over); 2) perform 750 hours of community service; 3) abide by a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew; and 4) not have a gun.
However, in less than six months of copping his plea, Grier ended up violating the terms and was arrested in May, and as of Monday (June 5), he has now been sentenced to nine years and six months in prison, with his probation revoked.
According to reports, at the time of the May arrest, plainclothes officers had been conducting surveillance in the Southwest Atlanta area on Cleveland Avenue. Officers saw a black Mercedes G-Wagon backed into a parking spot at a BP gas station.
They claimed that several people were standing around the driver’s side door, leaving them to believe that Grier was engaging in a possible drug deal.
After Grier pulled out of the gas station parking lot, officers pulled him over for a window tint violation, and later the officer noted that there was a strong marijuana smell coming from the SUV as well.

The arresting officer added, “I also noticed a handgun in plain view located in the driver side door panel. Mr. Grier advised that the gun was clean, which prompted me to believe he had knowledge of the firearm being there.”
Upon Grier’s arrest, officers confiscated a 9mm Glock and discovered “marijuana particles” across the floorboard.
One of the arresting officials, a detective, also reported that he was an active member of the YSL investigation team since 2009. He added that “the gas station where Grier was arrested is controlled and used by YSL for the commission of criminal gang activity.”
The detective also said that YSL had been engaged in an “ongoing war” with rival gangs, which resulted in more than 100 shootings and multiple homicides since January 2015.
