Investigators are looking into the death of a 15-year-old black teen who was shot and killed by a former police officer who was upset the teen was dating his daughter.
On Monday, Clarksdale Police department announced, Cornelius McGee Jr died after the former cop took his life. McGee’s mom, Jacqueline Rash recently spoke out and said the shooter was upset because Cornelius was dating his daughter. She also says the man previously warned the teen to not come to his home anymore to link up with the daughter. According to McGee’s mom the teen went over to the daughter and once the once the Dad spotted the teen he tried to run and was reportedly shot in the back while trying to hop the fence.
In a Facebook post, Rash share a post with beautiful photos of her son with a simple caption, “Justice for my baby.” The post also encouraged friends and family to remember McGee Jr. for the good he brought into the world.“Flood fb w/ THE GOOD of CJ.. a good big brother a wonderful little brother! The best son, good uncle, great athlete, etc,” the post read. “That’s all we want to see right now & I’m sure that’s all ma want to hear and see!!! JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED.”
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) said investigators are “actively gathering information on a shooting in Clarksdale,” adding that “at this time” the shooting didn’t involve an officer.
