Coi Leray is letting it be known she paved the way for slim women to confidently enter the music business.

The ‘Big Purr’ rapper recently spoke with Apple Music 1’s Eddie Francis Leray and opened up about being body shamed for her petite frame and knowing she can handle the online comments that come with it.

“I’m prepared for whatever honestly,” Leray shared. “I’ve dealt with the body shaming situation, honestly my whole entire career. Shout out to all the slim women out there. I feel like I actually paved the way in the music industry for a slim woman to just finally be accepted, honestly, after a very long time. I’m talking since [the] Mýa and Left Eye days.”

She added, “And it’s something important you talk about. It’s something very important you talk about. I wake up every day and say, ‘I love my body.’ I don’t give a f**k. When I put my clothes on, I’m not saying, ‘Yo, I’m going to put this on to troll.’ I’m putting it on because I love to look good, I love to feel good. And that’s what I personally, genuinely love to wear and like. When they make it about my body, it’s just ongoing. This gets old after a while. It really does.”

As we’ve previously shared, Coi came for Latto earlier last week after the “Big Energy” rapper dropped a snippet of her new song “Put It On Da Floor.”  On the track, Latto raps,“Smokin’ on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray / B**ches like to run their mouths but I’m the type to run the fade.”

After Latto dropped the snippet to promote her new song, Coi caught wind of the viral lyrics and hopped on Twitter to sound off on the rapper who she has been caught in a “Twitter beef” with before.

This go ‘round, Coi tweeted, “These b**ches wanna be like the n***as so bad. Y’all wanna have rap beef SOOOOOO BADDDDDD. LITTLE MISS PRESSURE. Anybody that talk about my body wants MY BODY!!!!!!! Like real badddddd.”

Coi followed up with another tweet, directly at Latto. She said, “Latto bye. Here you go talking about my body. Please do not come on here and talk about nobody BODY. Lol like seriously. Out of all things. Lmaoooo ya blunt my size? Lmaooo this sh*t is never ending.”

Coi then came to a realization and tweeted, “Maybe I overreacted, I don’t know. End of the day. Don’t say my name for clicks and likes. Specially if we don’t speak or communicate. I’m not a big blunt small blunt. Don’t compare me to nada. Mention b**ches you actually beef with. Put it on the floor but leave me out of the bullsh*t.”

A few days later during Latto’s performance she addressed all the online drama and said, “Aye, Coi. By the way I love your body, baby.”
