North Carolina Pastor Under Fire For Sermon Condemning Men With Long Hair: ‘That Ain’t God, That’s Worldliness’

In a recent clip, Pastor Lee was preaching a sermon, claiming the bible condemns men having long hair.

The pastor said, “How you a man and you tying your hair up in a bun? Men don’t walk around with buns on their head. And the bible says that’s a shame for a man. I didn’t say that, the bible said that’s a shame.”

The pastor then retorted back to those who he knew would have something to say back. He said, “See that’s the problem, we’re so easily offended. The bible said that’s a shame for a man to have long hair. That ain’t God.” The pastor tells his congregation to “look at somebody and say, ‘That’s worldliness.’”

Before the clip concludes, Pastor Lee mimics drummers with long hair putting their hair in a bun, and banging their head so hard that their hair falls down. He adds, “You’s a devil. Men don’t do stuff like that.”

Responding back to the pastor, several people on Twitter had much to say about Pastor Lee’s controversial remarks.

One Twitter user said: “So according to him, Jesus wasn’t a man. Every conceivable image of Jesus, he has ridiculously long hair.”

Another said: “Black Jesus ain’t never wanna pull his hair up from ‘round his face tho…?”

A third user said: “This message is beyond ludicrous! It sound like he has identity problem with oneself. Samson had long hair was told by God not to cut and if he did he would loose his power. He has no right to call someone a devil for having long hair. Some of these preachers smh.”

Two other users commented to each other. The first said: “How tf is it a shame for a man to have long hair when Samson’s power came from his hair being long…. Critical….thinking.” The other responded back, “Yep. This is what happens when people take verses of the Bible and remove the context.”

Meanwhile, another controversial pastor Gino Jennings of First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Philadelphia, also made similar statements in a past sermon.

Pastor Jennings referenced 1 Corinthians 11:14 and said: “If you’re a man and got long hair, you’ve got to surrender that long hair. For God says, ‘Doth not nature teach you that if a man have long hair, it is a shame under Him. God said it.'” He then continued to tell his congregation, “Don’t argue with me, take it up with God.”
