Now, back in Janury 2019, Jay and Nina got engaged. After five years of dating, Jay got down on one knee and proposed to Nina at sunset on Dreamland Beach in Bali.
The couple immediately began planning their wedding, with a prospective date in June 2019. However, life came and altered their plans and soon enough, they welcomed a baby girl.
In November 2019, the couple gave birth to their first child together. They welcomed a daughter named Nora Grace Ellis.
With a new baby on board and the wedding still needing to be planned, the couple ended up pushing the date back to July 2020. However, due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Jay and Nina had to push the date back again and finally landed on July 9, 2022.

‘Insecure’ Star Jay Ellis & Serbian Model Nina Seničar Dish On Planning Their Wedding In Italy
Now, speaking with Vogue Magazine, about their wedding, Nina says they both “always knew we wanted to get married in Italy because going there was the first trip we ever took together.”
Nina explained that in June 2019, the two of them went to Italy as they looked for the perfect wedding destination. For nearly a week, they had road-tripped from Rome to Tuscany to Puglia, and looked at about 15 venues and villas as they traveled.
They ended up locking in on a villa called Villa Mangiacane, which sat on a property surrounded by vineyards and olive groves in the small town of San Casciano in Tuscany.
Jay tells the fashion magazine about his custom tuxedo planning. He says, he and stylist Apuje Kalu worked together to get him a custom Dolce & Gabbana look.
He said, “We talked about a bunch of silhouettes, lapels, and looks, but I always knew I wanted to wear something in the bordeaux family. Dolce sent over three sketches, and I immediately gravitated to the third one. The fabric on the lapel was sourced; they had never used it before. The piping on the lapel and pockets was a pitch by Apuje that I loved and the rest was the Dolce team being the best at what they do.”
As for Nina’s Dolce & Gabbana dress, she said, “I wanted a simple off-white silk material without lace and sparkles, but at the same time something classic, timeless, and elegant.”
As for the nearly 200 guests, they were asked to wear earth tones for the ceremony, which happened to take place at sunset. Among the guests, were Jay’s ‘Insecure‘ co-stars Issa Rae and Yvonne Orji and producer Prentice Penny.
