Anthony Anderson will not be putting up a fight in court with his estranged wife Alvina after agreeing to pay her backdated spousal support from March 1, even though his legal team initially insisted on payments to begin from June 1. As fans will probably recall, Alvina filed for divorce from the “black-ish” star on March 25, citing irreconcilable differences, but they had already separated at the end of February, after 22 years of marriage.

According to a new report via People, Anthony has now concurred with his former flame to pay the backdated sum as decided by a joint forensic accountant, having also agreed with Alvina that they will sell their home in Encino, California, and evenly share the profits. Furthermore, the 51-year-old was ordered by the court to secure alternate housing for his ex for 12 months as the pair are no longer living together under one roof.

This is not the first time Alvina had filed for divorce from Anthony. She did the same back in 2015, once again citing irreconcilable differences, with a judge awarding her spousal support for her petition as well. The filing to end the marriage was later dissolved in 2017 when the pair appeared to have to saved their relationship.

Anthony and Alvina share two children: Kyra, 26, and Nathan, 22.

It’s been a rough couple of months for the 51-year-old, who has not only been dealing with his marriage falling apart but also having to say goodbye to his “black-ish” cast as the show wrapped up its final season earlier this year.

And last month, it was announced that Anthony would not be reprising his role in the next “Law & Order” series, where he played Detective Kevin Bernard. It’s unclear why he chose to step away from the iconic role, but could the drama in his personal life have contributed to the decision?

Anthony and Alvina were college sweethearts when they met while attending Howard University together. In a previous interview with Parade, the award-winning actor went into greater detail as he recalled the sweet moment he and his soon-to-be ex-wife got together for the first time, saying, “My sophomore year [1989], her freshman year, I knew a girl who lived in the apartment, so I went to knock on the door to invite her to this party that I and my buddies were having.

“My wife answered the door. I was like, ‘I was coming to invite Stacey to this party we’re having.’ Stacey didn’t show up, but my wife did—and we have been together ever since that night. And I was just me: I got there early, she didn’t see anybody else, she was, ‘All right, I’m gonna rock out with this dude!'”
