In an exclusive by the Daily Mail, excerpts from his speech reveal his stance on gun reform, claiming a “deranged person’s mental health” should not be the reason guns should be taken away from ‘law-abiding’ citizens. It reads, ‘The existence of evil in our world is not a reason to disarm law-abiding citizens—the existence of evil is one of the very best reasons to arm law-abiding citizens.’Â
‘Each precious young soul that was taken is an incomprehensible loss—stolen from us by malice that no words can describe. While we don’t yet know enough about this week’s killing, we know there are many things we must do,’ he will say. We need to drastically change our approach to mental health. There are always so many warning signs. Almost all of these disfigured minds share the same profile,’Â

Trump is also expected to say that the issue of broken families needs to be addressed because the law cannot “cure” the effects of a broken home. He will also address the issues the NRA faces as citizens continue to ask for stricter gun reform and laws. Senator Ted Cruz is expected to attend the conference but Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick have canceled their appearances.

However, Abbott claims gun laws wouldn’t be able to prevent the Robb Elementary school shooting from happening.
‘There are thousands of laws on the books across the country that limit the owning or using of firearms, laws that have not stopped madmen from carrying out evil acts on innocent people in peaceful communities.
‘In Uvalde, the gunman committed a felony under Texas law before he even pulled the trigger. It’s a felony to possess a firearm on school premises, but that did not stop him.’
Abbott also said he was lied to by police officers about the details surrounding the shooting.
Additionally, several others who were scheduled to appear at the conference said they were making cancelations due to the mass shooting. This also included Daniel Defense, the company that produce and sold Salvador Ramos’ weapon used during the shooting.
‘We believe this week is not the appropriate time to be promoting our products in Texas at the NRA meeting.’ said Vice President of Marketing Steven Reed.
