Hollywood Unlocked sits down with power duo Jovan Marie and Baron Jay for an exclusive interview.

Meet Jovan Marie

Growing up economically impoverished but culturally enriched, Jovan Marie was a shy, sweet, and uniquely different thinking kind of girl who relished in moving and grooving to the beat of her own free-spirited drum, with adolescent interests in sports (cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, and track) and music, where she began an audio love affair with the Motown roster of stars and illustrious repertoire of their hits. Some of her biggest singing influences included the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Beyonce’ and the alluring power ballads of the classic Disney animation films she grew up on. Extremely shy at first, she’d often lock herself in the bathroom at home and sing, much to the chagrin of her siblings and family; however, when not singing, she also enjoyed reading; and would often lose herself in books.

By 16, this natural-born introvert emerged from her (now) sensuous shell and proactively invested in her own studio time, postings on REVERBNATION, and securing her original works with BMI.
