A Louisiana teacher has pleaded guilty to multiple sex crimes which included feeding cupcakes to students that were laced with her former husband’s sperm.

Cynthia Perkins,46, is facing a 41-year prison sentence after she pleaded guilty to the sex crimes and accepted a plea deal on Monday. Her decision led to 68 charges being dismissed and agreeing to testify against her ex-husband, Dennis Perkins. The former middle school teacher pleaded guilty to second-degree rape, producing child pornography, and conspiracy of tampering with harmful substances.
The couple was arrested in October 2019 after police stated they were facing more than 150 charges which included sexually abusing a child together. Dennis was immediately fired from his position as sheriff’s lieutenant and Cynthia resigned as a teacher at Westside Junior High School. She also filed for divorce shortly after.

Authorities in Livingston County made the arrest after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children involving a photo of the former couple lying naked next to a child. Cynthia’s attorney, James Spokes, claimed his client feel remorseful about her actions and called her plea deal ‘the best possible outcome.’
‘We weighed all the options and available information, and considering the circumstances… We really feel as though this was the best decision,’ Spokes said.
‘Cynthia decided this was in her best interest. She feels a lot of remorse over what’s happened. We side with her when she says this was the best decision she could make at this time. This is not the kind of case where people are going home happy, but this was the best possible outcome.’
