Troopers Andrea Pelachick and Lauren Lesher released a statement on Twitter early Saturday morning warning residents to avoid any attempt to capture the cynomolgus macaque monkey. “Crash Update: There is still one monkey unaccounted for, but we are asking that no one attempt to look for or capture the animal. Anyone who sees or locates the monkey is asked not to approach, attempt to catch or come in contact with the monkey. Please call 911 immediately,” the tweet reads. Later on, it was confirmed that the last monkey was accounted for.

The warning was issued after several monkeys escaped after a crash between a lab truck and a dump truck Friday afternoon. However, those monkeys were later accounted for after a search by the Pennsylvania Game Commission and other agencies.

Additionally, the remaining monkeys were sent to a CDC-approved quarantine facility. Before the crash, the truck was en route to a lab but it was unclear what type of research they were going to be used for.
