Woman Marries Boyfriend Who Threw Acid & Disfigured Her Face
A young Turkish woman married her ex-boyfriend that threw acid in her face, leaving her disfigured and blind.
Berfin Ozek, 20, was savagely attacked by her ex Casim Ozan Celtik, in 2019. The violent attack came after she tried to end their relationship, but he spiraled and threw acid on her.
Despite going to jail, she later withdrew drew her complaint after he reportedly apologized and begged for forgiveness.
“I am not comfortable with him being between four walls there,” she wrote. “We have written many letters to each other. I have given myself to him. I love him very much, he loves me very much.”
Despite initially receiving a 13 year sentence due to new laws and the Covid-19 pandemic, Celtik was released on probation, and he soon proposed to the same woman he disfigured. They got married earlier this month, without her family’s knowledge.

“She married without our knowing. I’ve fought for her for years, and now all of this has been in vain,” said Berfin’s father Yasar Ozek.

The lawyer over the case Lawyer Ramazan Erdogan spoke on the release,
“The defendant became a convict with the approval of the verdict.”
“Considering the period of his imprisonment, he was entitled to go to an open prison after completing the time he had to spend in a closed prison. However, due to the pandemic, convicts are considered on leave from open prisons until 31st May, 2022.
“The defendant’s release has nothing to do with his marriage to Berfin. The decision is final. If it were not for the pandemic, he would have continued to serve his sentence in an open prison.”
