Wells reportedly had to be taken to the hospital for treatment for his injuries. The documents do not reveal what happened to Foster after this tussle with officers, and his body has been taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences on Wednesday.
He was battling bipolar disorder, and his family and reform Police Chief Richard Black had made arrangements to bail him out of jail and send him to a hospital for evaluation, but something went wrong, and when they arrived at the jail to get him on Sunday he was dead.
“We went to bond him out and something happened at the jail and they wouldn’t let us get him,” Black said. “I really don’t know medically what was going on, but based on what I learned, it was not normal.”
