14-year-old Jashyah Moore was reported missing last month after she was last seen at Poppie’s Deli in East Orange. On Thursday evening, it was reported that the teen was found safely in Harlem after a Good Samaritan recognized her although the teen cut her hair off. She later explained to NYPD officers that she didn’t want to return home and decided to travel to Brooklyn where she ended up residing at a shelter.

Moore’s mother, Jamie, was arrested Friday due to accusations of physical abuse and neglect in the home. Before her arrest, Jamie launched a GoFundMe page to reportedly improve law enforcement missing protocols such as the Amber Alert.

“My family and I want to ensure certain legal channels are altered to better aid families in preventing possible tragedies. This includes certain law enforcement protocols like the Amber Alert. Please help us make a difference.”

Jamie was also speaking with local news outlets about her daughter’s disappearance and claimed she wasn’t a runaway.

“My daughter did not run away, an Amber Alert, right away, they should have put it in, but because it didn’t fit the criteria — what the h*ll is the criteria?”
