Morgan Wallen Claims He Meant To Use The N-Word Playfully
Just months after apologizing for hurling hurling a racial slur on the streets of Nashville, Tennessee, Morgan Wallen is now speaking out about the controversy that prompted one of the biggest radio chains in the US to drop him from its playlists m.
While speaking with Michael Strahan on “Good Morning America,” Wallen says when he used the n-word after partying with his friends, he thought it was “playful” … but he admits that’s ignorant, and he now knows it’s completely wrong.
He said at the time he was caught on film saying the n-word, he wasn’t using the racial epithet in a derogatory manner, admitting that up until that point in his life he had never thought about it being wrong. He went on to repeat that he was simply ignorant and said after meeting with Black leaders, he has a better understanding of what not to say.
Before concluding he said he’s done a lot of thinking and soul-searching about it, along with a 30-day stint in rehab, TMZ notes.
This wasn’t the first time the entertainer has been forced to apologize after being the subject of leaked footage. Back in 2020, the 27-year-old was blocked from a scheduled performance on “Saturday Night Live” after a video surfaced of Wallen at a crowded party without a mask amid the coronavirus pandemic.
