Florida Man Charged After Shooting Driver Who Threw Banana At Him In Road Rage Incident
Robert Lewis, a Tampa Bay, Florida man, has been charged after shooting a driver who threw a banana at his truck in a road rage incident that took place on Tuesday (May 18) on U.S. Highway 19.
It’s reported that during this extreme case of road rage, Lewis and another driver, identified as Peter Sala Jr., were arguing on the highway. Things escalated when Sala Jr. drove ahead of Lewis’ pickup truck and tossed a piece of a banana towards him, which struck Lewis’ vehicle.

Responding, Lewis grabbed his handgun and fired at Sala Jr. While the bullet did not strike him, it pierced through his right-front passenger window, causing glass to shatter and wound Sala Jr., leaving him with a non-life-threatening injury. Lewis has since been charged with shooting a deadly missile into/at an occupied vehicle, as well as criminal mischief. He was placed behind bars in a Pinellas Park jail, held on a $12,000 bond.
