Murder Suspect At Large In Los Angeles After He’s Mistakenly Released From Prison

Steven Manzo, a 24-year-old murder suspect from Hawaiian Gardens, is currently at large in Los Angeles after he was mistakenly released from prison due to a data entry error.

On Tuesday (Mar. 9), Manzo’s case was “erroneously” dismissed and he was subsequently released from Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood. After officials caught the error, they immediately fired off wanted ads and shut down the 101 Freeway southbound in downtown Los Angeles as they searched for him. He was last seen running across the freeway in his jail clothing.

Responding to the error, the L.A. County District Attorney’s office claims on Tuesday morning there was a court hearing, where charges were dismissed then immediately refiled. Because of mishaps that happened, Manzo was released, despite him being held on a $2 million bail. Manzo was charged in the July 2018 shooting death of 24-year-old Salvador Corrales in Long Beach. However, he was arrested until March 2020.
