According to the New York Post, Sidney Deal,27, alerted officers to help him rescue his daughter Sayah after she was stuck in a hot car Monday afternoon. Authorities reported Deal didn’t want the officers to break the windows of his brand new car or call a tow truck to alleviate the situation but wanted to call his brother for help. Deal allegedly told his brother that he accidentally left Sayah in his car and claimed the air conditioner was running. When his brother arrived at the scene and offered to break the window open, Deal said he didn’t have money to replace a broken window.

Minutes after, the officers were able to break the window and pull the unresponsive toddler out of the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene and a cause of death has yet to be determined.

Investigators were also informed that Deal’s girlfriend had called the insurance company to get a quote and when she told him the price, he hung up the phone shortly after. He is currently booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of child abuse or neglect causing substantial bodily harm and held on a $20,000 bond.
