Probe Launched After Bags Of Stolen Mail Are Dumped In 2 Los Angeles Parking Lots

A probe has been launched in Los Angeles after numerous bags of stolen mail were dumped in 2 Glendale parking lots this past week.

On Thursday, piles of USPS mail were found in two separate locations in Glendale: the first in the 1000 block of Allen Avenue near an alley; and roughly two hours later, the second occurred in the 1600 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, in a parking lot outside 7Q Spa Laser & Aesthetics.

Glendale Police Department Sgt. Christian Hauptmann updates that surveillance footage shows a Budget rental truck being unloaded of bags wit unopened letters and packages at both locations in the early morning. An investigation is now looking to determine which post office the mail came from, as well as who rented the truck.

Furthermore, these incidents arrive amid the controversy regarding recent changes in the Postal Service, partially due to the coronavirus pandemic and upcoming election, which have led to widespread mail delays across the country.
