Indiana Teen Tests Positive For Coronavirus On First Day Back To School

Families have become increasingly concerned as a  Greenfield, Indiana teen tests positive for coronavirus on their first day back to school.

Just 20 miles east of Indianapolis, the Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation experienced its first positive case since returning for the school year. Subsequently, they were forced to send a notification out to parents of students at Greenfield-Central Junior High School on Thursday afternoon.

The letter, sent via Superintendent Harold Olin, stated that the student only attended school for part of the day. He detailed that the student was tested days before returning, but ended up attending before receiving results. Despite the positive case, Olin adds, “This really does not change our plans. We knew that we would have a positive case at some point in the fall. We simply did not think it would happen on Day One.”

Additionally, at Avon High School, a few miles west of Indianapolis, a school staff member tested positive and notified the district and parents on Thursday. The district confirmed that the member had not been in close contact with anyone at the school, an have yet to confirm if they were a teacher.
