Georgia Republican Senator Removes Campaign Ad That Enlarged Jewish Opponent’s Nose

Republican Sen. David Perdue from Georgia has removed a campaign that edited a picture of his Democratic Jewish opponent Jon Ossoff, by enlarging his nose.

The Facebook ad read, “DEMOCRATS ARE TRYING TO BUY GEORGIA! HELP DAVID PERDUE FIGHT BACK.”

A spokeswoman for Perdue said that the image was removed from Facebook, and that it was an “unintentional error.” They claimed they used a vendor.

“Anybody who implies that this was anything other than an inadvertent error is intentionally misrepresenting Senator Perdue’s strong and consistent record of standing firmly against anti-Semitism and all forms of hate,” the rep said.

However, Ossoff wasn’t having it.

“Sitting U.S. Senator David Perdue’s digital attack ad distorted my face to enlarge and extend my nose,” Ossoff said in a statement per LA Times. “I’m Jewish. This is the oldest, most obvious, least original anti-Semitic trope in history.

“Senator, literally no one believes your excuses,” Ossoff’s statement said. “You can start with an unqualified apology to Georgia’s Jewish community.”
