Restaurant Launches ‘Adopt A Nurse or Doc’ Catering Service To Feed Employees At Local Hospitals

A California restaurant is receiving praise from the medical community after deciding to deliver food for nurses and doctors who in the frontlines during the coronavirus outbreak.

According to Good News Network, Tootsie’s restaurant in Palo Alto have transitioned over to catering services to provide meals for doctors and nurses within the Bay Area. The service called “Adopt A Doctor or Nurse” was launched earlier this month by owner Rocco Scordella and he says the program received 750 requests on their first day after asking the community for help.

“I’m gonna be busier than when I’m actually open so its good. It’s really good to see the community coming in.”

Tootsie’s made the announcement on their official Facebook page to ask the community for their involvement in the program:

“We decide to keep Tootsie’s open mostly as a support to the hospital workers.If you feel like supporting go to our web site and sponsor a catering for one of the departments @stanford.healthcare @stanfordchildrens. Choose the amount of food and the department.we will do the rest!”

Scordella said the new service has allowed him to rehire his staff who he laid off due to the shutdowns.
