On the December 31 episode of Deon Cole‘s ‘Funny Knowing You‘ podcast, Arnold recalled the one and only time she dated someone outside of her race. She admitted to dating Green and ending things because she noticed his pattern of dating Black women and predicted he’d ultimately end up with a White woman.

During her interview with Cole, Arnold was sharing how she doesn’t like to date people in her industry. She said:

“Too close. I don’t shit where I eat, boo-boo. Not me. Well, I did say I dated the actor that I dated. And the one white guy that I dated. He was nice. But, he was different. It was, you know, it was nice.

But I told him, I said, ‘The reason why I’m not, you know, we’ve come to the end of our road because I know… I see you dating all these Black women. Now you’re dating me and you’re not going to end up with a Black woman. You’re going to share your riches and your legacy with someone White. And so, I’m getting off this train.’ I’m very good with endings. I’m like, ‘Yeah. OK, bye.’

But, nice guy. Really, really nice guy. But, it’s just I knew it wasn’t going anywhere. But, it was a great experience because he was a good human being. He was a good human being. And I think in life I had to experience that so I know what the other side is.

And, you know, it’s just not something that I want. I just I really love Black men. I’m just attracted to Black men. Like, that’s my natural—it comes down to everything. Just the pheromones, the smell, everything.

We liked each other. But he pursued me. He actually took me on a date to we did the red carpet. They asked me to. I was like, ‘What?’ And this is in the height of ‘Martin,’ too. Yeah, I was like, ‘What?’ But, he was good looking and stuff.

And I mean, I said Brian Austin Green. But, he was very well off. Nice guy. Oh, and great, like rapper—like he was good at rapping. He had a studio in his house. And that was another thing that attracted me to him. He was very musically inclined. His dad is a Jazz musician and stuff. Yeah, so there was a lot of commonality there. But he was like the only actor and White guy that I ever dated. I gave it a shot.”

Weeks after Deon Cole welcomed Tichina Arnold onto his podcast, he had Brian Austin Green. On the January 14 episode of ‘Funny Knowing You,’ Green responded to Arnold’s recollection of their secret romance. He said:

“So, we ended up fooling around and kind of dating, but it was, it’s, it’s funny. So, the pride that you say in culture and race, like she, I think coming from ‘Martin,’ she was very clear in—Tichina, I love you. I love you. She was very clear on day one of like, ‘Nobody can know about this.’ Nobody. Like can’t tell people, can’t, can’t talk about this.

So, I was, I was in my early twenties. I was living in a culture that wasn’t accepting of me, but there was no way to get out of it because that was just where my brain and my heart were. So, I was really insecure. And then I have someone who I’m attracted to, who’s telling me like, ‘Oh, you can’t tell anybody.’

I think for me, like it really triggered something of like, oh, okay. I’m not good enough for any of this. You don’t even want your friends to know that you’re hanging out with me. I wanted to [be out with her] in the beginning, for sure. And then I quickly felt like, oh, okay. Just like my love of Hip-Hop and all my other sht, like, this is, I have to shut the f*k up, and, you know, and sit in the back of the car and like, just be happy that I’m in the car.”
