Some of our favorite and most legendary faces in entertainment have been around for a long time in the industry, and while the industry puts pressure on stars to reverse the effects of aging, Jane Fonda isn’t here for it and is all for celebrating the process of time.
The actress, who believe it or not, is 84-years old, spoke out about how she is not bothered about death and that aging is not a bad thing.
“I’m super-conscious that I’m closer to death, and it doesn’t really bother me that much,” the star said on “CBS Sunday Morning.”

“What bothers me is that my body is, you know, basically not mine!” she added. “My knees are not mine, my hips are not mine, my shoulder’s not mine. You’re looking at somebody who’s only me from [the neck] up.”
Fonda expressed that she does feel like her body is no longer hers as she has had to have multiple knee and hip replacement surgeries in the past few years, but overall she is doing well and her career continues to stay at the top.
“The fact is, if you’re alive and relatively healthy at an older [age] — I mean, I’m almost 85,” she said. “The fact that I’m still alive and working. Wow, who cares if I don’t have my old joints and I can’t ski or bike or run anymore? Eh.”
“You know, you can be really old at 60, and you can be really young at 85. Health!”
Fonda stopped drinking as it began to affect her body differently
“Even with one drink, like, if I had a martini tonight, I would be at half-mast tomorrow,” she added. “Now, that wasn’t true when I was younger. But as you get older, I think alcohol affects you differently. And I only have so many tomorrows left. I don’t want to be at half-mast for any of them!”
“We both have been told by women who have faced terrible things that watching ‘Grace and Frankie’ has kept their head above water, given them hope,” Fonda said of her current show.
Jamie Lee Curtis On Feeling Confident Without Surgery: ‘Do Things That Will Make You Feel Good About Yourself, Not To Change The Way You Look’
Another veteran in the industry, Jamie Lee Curtis previously spoke with us about her taking plastic surgery and the pressures of the industry to change yourself.
While speaking to Hollywood Unlocked, Jamie elaborated on her comments on surgery “erasing generations of beauty.” Curtis is an advocate for aging gracefully and embracing real beauty, and in an industry where there is pressure to always look a certain way, her words are refreshing.
“Do Things That Will Make You Feel Good About Yourself, Not To Change The Way You Look,” Curtis said.
