Elderly Indian Man Thought To Be Dead Is Rescued After Family Put Him In Freezer

The family of 74-year-old Balasubramanian Kumar belived he died on Monday when he stopped moving at home in the village of Kandhampatti in Tamil Nadu state.

While making plans to say their final goodbyes, a freezer was sent to stow the deceased elder ahead of a religious ceremony, which is customary. However, when an employee of the freezer company arrived the next day to pick up the icy coffin, he noticed that the man was moving!

“His hands are trembling, how?” a person behind a camera said while filming Kumar in video that has gone viral in India and made national news, according to The Daily Mail and the Independent. Kumar was eventually taken out and rushed to a local hospital in Salem city. Dr. R. Balajnatha told the Times of India, “He’s responding to treatment and cooperating.”

Police are now investigating the family for not carrying out a proper medical check before declaring Mr. Kumar dead.
