69 Pounds Of Cocaine Worth $5 Million Seized From A Cruise Ship In Florida

Dozen garbage bags containing cocaine was discovered by a cruise ship’s security team after a routine inspection in the cargo liner on Friday.

According to Yahoo! News, the drugs were discovered after the cruise ship was docked at the Port Everglades seaport for maintenance on June 6. The US Customs Border and Patrol seized the drugs after the cruise liner’s security collected the bricks and did a further search through the ship to find any more drugs.

“This seizure is indicative of the excellent collaboration CBP has with our industry partners to detect and interdict illegal drugs being smuggled into our nation. Our officers strive daily to develop and enhance our partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, industry partners, and the citizens of our community to stop criminal activity at our borders, be it land, air, or sea, said CBP port director of field operations Dylan DeFrancisci.

Officials did not reveal the name of the company who operated the cruise liner and it is unclear if any arrests were made.
